Woolooware is located 24 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD. Woolooware stretches from Woolooware Bay in the north to Burraneer Bay and Gunnamatta Bay in the south, on Port Hacking. It borders the suburbs of Cronulla, Caringbah and Burraneer.

Woolooware is home to the Cronulla Leagues Club and the Cronulla Sharks Football Team as well as Woolooware Golf Club. Other sporting fields include Woolooware Oval, Jenola Park, Solander playing fields and Captain Cook Oval.
